Exclamation 1996 f150 problem! problem! problem!:sign0184:

help! cant figure out whats wrong with the old ford. about 5 or 6 weeks ago i cut my truck off and went into walmart. When i came out i went to start my truck and it would turn over but wouldnt crank. i let it sit for like 3 hours and tried to crank it and it started right up. its done the same thing about two times a week since then. today i pulled into a gas station and stoped and it died. it did the same thing that its been doing and wouldnt start. i came back about 3 or 4 hours later and it started right up. i drove like 5 miles to my house and cut it off. i cranked it after i turned it off and it started right up. ive asked a few people and my dad which is a pretty good mechanic and they are puzzled. ive heard if it was the fuel filter it would happen all the time and wouldnt ever start. every time i turn my key forward u can hear my fuel pump. so i know its still working. help help help! please! im supposed to be moving to Arkansas saturday. this is my everyday driver and dont wanna take it without figuring out the problem.

When it does not start, have you checked for spark and fuel pressure?

Check your tach and see if your getting rpm at crank u should show 200-300 rpm durning cranking if your tach isn't reading rpm it could be the crank sensor/ cam sensor which ever one these trucks have I don't remember but thats what it sounds like it is. I've many go out on a f-350 i had and they all acted different every time they went out but that's what i would look into.
