Default some advice on sub box?

hey guys i need some advice on a center console sub box im building. I have been trying to figure out what to do with the box as covering the MFD board and i think i figured it out but need some help. Im thinking im going to use like an undercoating to give it a rough tough look. how would i go about this?

Just sand the MDF and spray on the coating. I'd countersink the screws and fill the holes so the box is smooth.

Yeah, that will work fine. The coating is just cosmetic.
