2002 Electrical Problem
My problem started when certain systems started working/not working intermittently on their own. The electric windows wouldnt work, the dome lights wouldnt work then the starter kicked in and sat and cranked until on its own with the keys in my hand. by time I could get to the battery cable it burnt up the starter. I asked around and folks told me to replace the GEM module. I replaced it and the starter. Seemed to fix the problem but certain other things didnt work but I just thought I needed to get the new GEM programed. Before I could get it to the dealer to flash the module the truck now wont start unless the shifter it in neutral. It will start in park but the safety wont release while the truck is running. Someone told me that along with the GEM module problem they also are bad about the fuse box under the dash going bad. oh yea the radio goes on and off on it own too. Any ideas?

You've got so much stuff going on I wouldn't even know where to have you start digging. When the GEM goes there are other modules along the route that can be affected as well. I would try to get it to the dealer and see if they can do a tech scan on it and see if they can spot where the problem is.

Well you might start with replacing the Ignition switch, not the part that the key fits into, but the actual switch which is on the steering column down under the dash. If you look at the schematics, the Ignition switch is made up of 6 individual switches which control like 7 different devices of electrical feeds. So a Ign switch can certainly give all sorts of off the wall electrical issues. They do not cost much, just replace it for piece of mind if nothing else, Its just like fuel issues, the pump must work like new or all sorts of issues that will cause you tn not sleep at nights..
