2002 F150 shuts off when in park
Hello,
I have a 2002 Super Crew 4.6L with 185k. I recently replaced the battery and now my truck will start, but won't stay running while in park. If I start it and keep constant pressure on the gas - about 1000 to 1500rpm, the truck will run. But once I let go of the gas to let it just idle it dies. Once started again the Check Engine light does not stay on. If I start it and keep the pressure on the gas, depress brake and shift into drive, I can drive the truck without issue - it will not die once I come to a stop as long as I am in gear. I just drove it for 20 minutes without issues, but once I parked and shut it off - I was unable to keep it started in park once again. Any ideas on what I could check? Might be causing it? |
when you replaced the battery you cleared the computer. It probably had been compensating with some issues such as a IAP or MAF that is dirty or bad. It may return to its running state after a few drives. If possible, try to get the codes read. Most auto parts stores will read your codes for free.
