Hey, new to this forum but not Fords. Have had a 99 F250 V10 w/ 3.73 and 01 F250 V8 w/ 4.10. Had them when my daughter got into horses which is a whole other story. Anyways, going to be looking at a 2006 SCrew 4.6L with 86K miles on it. I've got the VIN # and am going to call one of the local Ford service dept to see what they can tell me about the specifics. According to Carfax it's a 3 owner rig - I prefer 1 -2 owners but am willing to have a look. Any feedback would be appreciated.
BTW, they're asking $13,900 for it.
Thanks in Advance, Ray

Welcome from another New Mexican!

Looks nice and sounds like a good deal. My only hesitation would be the 4.6L. They are underpowered for the weight of the truck.

Is it a 4x4? I've got the same cab/engine configuration. Check the axle code, I've got 3.73's and would NOT want 3.55's. I do wish the truck had 4.10's though. I find the 4.6 to be adequate for driving around, towing and hauling small loads. I've seen alot of 2wd 4.6 screws with 3.55's, I never drove one, but can't imagine the 4.6 with 3.55's

Run the VIN here https://www.fleet.ford.com/maintenan...ls/default.asp. It might give you a bit more info to use along with the Car Fax.

KLC – Whereabouts in NM? Just moved to Rio Rancho from Florida and I’m telling you, not missing the humidity back there one bit.

Purplehazeir – thanks for the pointer. Ran the VIN # - I was hoping for more technical info especially rear ratio but not there (pdf attached).

I drive by the dealer everyday so on my why to work yesterday and before they opened, parked by truck and did a quick walk around. Overall looked pretty clean – one scratch on front bumper but had a look under the rear bumper and saw no trailer hitch which is one thing I would like to have. Are the newer F150s hitches “hidden” or if it has one, it should be in plan site?

Anyways, I think I'm just going to keep looking and glad I found this forum

I'm in Roswell, aka Alien City. Haha

If it has a hitch it would be in plain sight.

What are you wanting and what is your price range? I will look for you down here.

Drove through Roswell on a trip we did out here in April to visit friends in ABQ.
That's what I thought about the hitch. I did see what looked like the 7 pin plug though (see the attached pic). So dealer calls me this morning and I told him that I did stop by and noticed no hitch. He said they can put one in for ~$150 which sounds reasonable. Then I asked him to find out the rear ratio - I would want 3.73 min - 4.10 - he said he'd find out for me.

What am I looking for? 2004 (late model because they had the newer style) to 2007, SCrew, 4.6L, 'short' bed. If it's the right truck, up to $17K. Thanks for looking for me.

One other thing, they've lowered the price another $1,000 - $12,888 to be exact.

Re-ran it this morning (pilot error the last time I did it ;)). Much more information but nothing on rear ratio.

You may have to crawl under and see if you can find an axe tag number and then run that through the dealer.

Or get the axle code off the drivers door
