Got the Gryphon, got some ?'s
hey all, so I am FINALLY home for 15 days of R&R from Afghanistan. the Gryphon CS was waiting for me:) along with the KM2s lol.
So i opened the box, and it looks like a stock Edge CS? The box didnt look like it was opened or anything.. I was under the impression that PHP takes the stock Edge canned tunes off and puts theirs on? Now I have not plugged it up yet to see what tunes it has on so I could just be jumping the gun here. OH. And anyone got any advice before i hook it up? I can return the truck to stock, correct? I have to take it up to the ford dealership to get the spark plugs replaced, adn they are going to do a complete inspection of the truck, and i wanna make sure that the programmer isnt going to be messed up somehow.. |
They shouldn't mess with software, but leave it stock when it goes in just in case. Yes, you can return it to stock. Go ahead and run a tune. I don't know how the "levels" are but just run whatever uses 87 octane or whatever is already in the truck.
Have you received any custom tunes yet or is it just the canned tunes? Is there any reason it SHOULD look different? |
What are you expecting it to look like exactly? I'm not sure on the CS but the only difference on the original Gryphon they just changed the case to black instead of grey.
|
thanks guys! the case is black, but it has the sticker on there that says warranty void if tampered with.. And no custom tunes yet, have to give themt he hex code? I did get the PHP canned tunes though..
The instructions suck, i will say that. I cannot find where there is a step by step guide to install and run it lol |
You just plug it in lol. Its not really hard to figure out.
When you first plug it in though make sure to write down the hex code that pops up. Thats what you need to send them |
Oh yeah, and enjoy your time at home!
|
dam i didnt write down the hex code.. How do i get it lol/ OOOH and they didnt put the PHP tunes on it.. Its got the stock EDGE tunes.. Kinda dissapointed.. Gunna call them and see what I have to do to get the PHP canned tunes.. But yeah, the stage 3 EDGE tune WAKES the truck up!!! I passed some old guy on the highway and WOW lol
|
I wouldn't send PHP the hex code until AFTER the ford dealer does their thing. If you send the hex code to PHP and ford flashes your truck while its in for service you'll have to get your tunes rewritten.

but if you want to access your hex code go to the tech support page in your tuner and follow the steps on the screen and it will take you to a menu where youll see the tuner model number and truck info and for custom tunes, you have to email php and download their pegasus program and they will send you your tunes once they get your hex code and other info |
thanks guys. But doesnt PHP load their own canned tunes on the CS? I am pretty sure I have the canned EDGE tunes..
|
Welcome back James! When is your appointment to get your plugs changed?
|
Honestly I don't remember. Mine came straight back from them with the custom tunes so I don't know.
|
Thanks Bob, gotta take it in tomorrow night so they can soak them overnight then they will get it done on thursday. Gotta have them look at a few wiring gremlens that have popped up as well.

gotcha. thanks zach!

James, on your main screen where you have the selected applications running ie: mph, ect, rpm's, look up in the top right hand corner of the screen and there should be a number. that number indicates the amount of custom tunes you currently have on your programmer.
Oh and welcome back man. Hope you enjoy your R&R |

yeah it says what level tune I am in. I do not have any custom tunes yet, have to send them my hex code first. I just thought that they put different canned tunes on then the stock edge..
