Usually my experience with smaller shops is that they will use your parts, but not warranty anything. And occasionally charge a little more for labor. And well, that's fine sometimes. This guy was just a prick from the get go, that's all.

And I am totally fine with shops selling their parts if they will order the ones that I want, AS LONG AS they are reasonable. I'm not saying they have to meet internet prices, but 2x what I can pick them up for is not reasonable in my opinion. Especially when they ALSO want $265 for labor.

Agreed. I understand shops will markup products some but I refuse to pay twice or even 1.5 times more than what Rock Auto has it.

Yeah, I also agree. I've ran in to the same several times. Refuse to go back to one place because of a similar experience.

Some basic car mechanics think that they are gods or something, I don't get it. Ball joints and tie rod ends are a pretty easy deal with the right tools, especially on a lift. Boohoo, I don't want to work for 2-3 hours and make $200-250! WTF really? lol
I just don't understand it, that's all. A big corporation that doesn't allow it, fine. But come on, you don't need to rape me $200 on parts on top of the easy money for the labor. And you really don't need to be a dick when someone is coming in looking to give you business.

it all depends on if you use the shop alot, if you go to them alot they wont screw you because you keep coming back, but bringing your own parts they are gonna want to screw you because they arnt making any money off of the parts

Hah! I talked to the shop today that I wanted to use, $160 labor. He doesn't give a sh!t about the parts. When he sells parts he gets them delivered from napa or someone else and I think he puts a really small mark up on them in any, so he doesn't care.
I asked him about resurfacing the front rotors and throwing new pads on, $48 labor and $8 each rotor to resurface them. Granted it only takes a minute to throw on new pads when everything is apart, but fine. I may have him throw new pads on the front (tired of the mess from the ford brakes!). Really I'd like to replace the rust nasty looking rotors but I don't want to spend the money now. They are just going to rust here again as I'm sure they will find a reason to put more salt on the roads.
