windows not working!?

hey everyone, so all of the sudden the 4 windows will not work.. They are all rolled up and have not worked since I have been home although the sunroof still works.. Today on the way home from omaha, I was playing with the switch and the pass. window rolled down about a half an inch and stopped working, so now its stuck there and its supposed to rain tonight:thumbsdown:

any suggestions? The fuse looks good. I honestly have no idea where to look

I have the same issue. All 4 windows simply stopped working yesterday. I replaced the fuse but to know avail. The sunroof and rear window works, just not any of the doors regardless of which switch it is.

I had to replace my master window switch awhile back when I first got the truck, but it was only the driver side that went bad. So the switches dont work on any of the doors?

mtbinva 03-14-2011 03:49 PM

None of them work. It seems to me that the master switch on the drivers side door could affect all of the windows due to the master lockout located on the switch. This is the button that locks access to the window except for the driver.

How much was the switch?

That would be great! Thanks! It'll save me a lot of heartache I'm sure.

Hey James. idk if you have tried yet but take you door panel off and spray the switches down with some contact cleaner.

hey all sorry i didnt post that i figured out what the problem was.. Broken ground wire somewhere in the door, couldnt get the panel all the way off, so we just did some Redneck engineering and made a new ground wire.. works fine now

Well, wasn't the switch. The shop is running a diagnostic on it now. Thanks for the wiring diagram.

This is going to get expensive.....:sad2:

This is where the issue is. The switch is not getting power. When power is applied at the switch it works. Any ideas of where to start looking?

My guess is I have to take the door apart to trace it to the hinge and where the wires come from the chassis to the door itself. Any thoughts or suggestions would be more than welcomed.

And again, thanks for the wiring diagram.

Its pin 37 - Accessory delay relay switched power. (PDF:Inline C2095)

Which the goes into the main wiring harness under the right side of the instrument panel, then goes to connector C270N its pin one(PDF:C270N_Connector), then goes to the Central Junction box (CJB), so I would check the Accessory Delay Relay which is relay R02, check the pin 87 on the relay (LB-BK colored wire) and check if theres power there.

mtbinva 06-17-2011 12:29 PM

The issue was somewhere in the harness. Instead of trying to find it in the harness, I ran another wire from the fuse box to the main switch, and put inline another 30A fuse. While redundant, I figured it's cheeper than risking burning out a motor.

The wires looked good at the door jamb, so it made tracking it down almost impossible.
