Your #1 favorite mod you have done to your 5.4
Hey guys, out of the mods you have done to your trucks, what is your #1 favorite?!
Tuner! Ill never own another truck without one. I have the Edge but when i get the spare cash i will be sending it to Gryphon for some custom tunes.
it made that big of a difference?
yes. especially towing
sweet, im getting ready to order a CS from PHP. not sure if i will get custom tunes just yet since all i have done is the GOTTS modd and an exhaust system.
Hard choice, either KM2s, tuner or front receiver.
Trent, I think I will have a hard time decided between the KM2s and the Gryphon CS as well! I cannot wait to get home in a few weeks and drive it though! im sure its going to be a whole different truck
Your going to be amazed how different it drives with a tuner. You might get used to it after a while but just set it back to stock. Its amazing the difference, it feels like driving a dump truck without it.
haha yeah. I am super excited to get the custom tunes! Cory said that they will modify the tunes for the bigger 35's so the tranny shifts right and everything!! MAN I CANNOT WAIT hahah.. the only bad part is they cannot work on the custom tunes until they get the HEX code which I cant get them until i get the tuner lol. SO doesnt look like I will have the custom tunes before I get home for R&R next month, but its ok

My Dad has an F-150 and the one that has made the largest visual difference (and how they should have came) are the Bilstein leveling shocks.
Man, hard to say. The 4.56 gears rock, the lockers rock, the 5100s rock, the custom tuning rocks, the tires are pretty good... Although one of my tires sucks, one of them cannot be balanced right. I kept blaming it on the shop but I've rebalanced them 3 times, probably not buying BFGs next time. lol
Two mods go hand in hand. The Edge CTS and modified exhaust with a pre-cat removals and a FLowMaster dual exhaust.

I do really like the KM2s but just one of mine is out of round of something. Every time I rotate the tires the shake moves. In some positions you can't tell at all. Although to be fair it still could be the shop's fault, I've had the same shop re-balance them. I tried taking the tires to another shop and they wanted $200 to balance them because I didn't buy them there. The shops and people here can be so retarded.
From what I find online, there are a handful of other people who got some that simply couldn't be balanced just right. They did take a butt load of weight to balance, I know that, more than any other tire I've had. The KM2s do seem quieter and smoother than Toyo M/Ts, and more people will say that they are better in mud. The sidewalls are not the strongest on the KM2s which I guess is good and bad. They are lighter than the Toyos, and conform offroad easier when aired down. I just find myself thinking that I would rather have the Toyos as they seem to be a lot more stout. If I don't lift my truck (yeah yea I change my mind daily) I keep thinking about running 285/75/18 toyos which is a 35x11.50. I originally ordered Toyos for my truck but found out that the 12.50s on stock wheels would not clear the upper control arm so I had to cancel the order, but the 11.50s should be perfect. |
interesting! It was a toss up between the toys, km2s and trail grapplers, but the km2s won out in the end. Just better reviews all around..

Mine was wheels and tires. Though I really liked my banks exhaust.

hard to say, i like all the mods i've done so far but I'd have to say my Volant intake and scoop with the MBRP catback make a huge difference with my Edge tuner. i've removed the tuner a few times because i had to take the truck in for a blown coil (three, make sure your harness isnt chaffing against the fuel rails) and i hate not having the Edge turned on. I love this truck I bought it after my first deployment in 07, and have been adding more an more to it after each one. Adding a Ford Racing radiator, and Maghytec tranny pan next month when i get stateside.

One piece Champion spark plugs...
Well, I didn't use the Champions after the mixed reports. I put in MC SP515 with the nickel anti-seize. On a very happy note, all 8 came out without breakage!:smokin:
edge programmer really helped on towing and made the truck more fun to drive

When I had mine changed a few months ago, I found that the previous owner had installed Champions: 1 https://www.f150-forums.com/attachme...ine=1310663539 2 https://www.f150-forums.com/attachme...ine=1310663539 3 https://www.f150-forums.com/attachme...ine=1310663539 4 https://www.f150-forums.com/attachme...ine=1310663539 None of these broke, and I installed Motorcraft SP-515s. The truck ran smoother, and idled much better with the Motorcrafts. |
i have to agree with the tuner, i bought an edge then found out about php and got some custom tunes, never will own another vehicle without a tuner

Swapping a Ford "Modular" engine series into an early Mustang. This is one of our specialties; we've been doing it longer than anyone out there. ... DOHC 5.4l, the Modular or "Mod" motors are all virtually the same and you will ... similar in concept and the level of modification that needs to be done to the car. ...
