Default Adding Turn Signal Equiped Mirrors

I'd like to add turn signal lights to the outside mirrors of my 2011 F150 XLT.
The current mirrors have power adjust but no lights although there are blank plastic inserts in the mirror housing where the signal lights fit.

If I purchase the lights and add them to the existing mirrors, will they plug directly into the harness?
That is, does the wiring harness to the mirrors have the turn signal light wires already installed?

Thanks.

You can use a volt meter and with your directional on check to see if you are picking up flashing voltage on a wire at the harness. Requires a bit of exploratory work by taking off the door panel, etc.

You have to add to the harness. It doesn't come with that harness. I have to do that to mine yet too.

If I understand you correctly you are trying to add led strip behind the front facing amber reflectors. If you want to do just the turn signals then you can just splice into the signal wire that is already there for the rear facing signal lights.

If you want to have these lights work with parking lights, and alternating turn signals, then you would have to do what I did, and that is to run two wires into the mirror through the door jam, it is a bit involved.
Once its done though it looks great!!

Hopefully this helps.

Good advice, but if the wiring is there I am sure you will need to install the corresponding fuses and/or relays.

Whhat He said & check you tube there is all kinds of Video's that show how to take the clips off for the Mirror and then splice into the Turn signals & Lights....I plan to do the same thing add the LED strips to the Mirror, alot cheaper then buing a whole new Unit.
I think you need to add a diode as well for the signals to work but its all in the Video......

good Luck!

Trying to find the individual/company that stated that they were in the process of making aftermarket retrofit mirrors for the F150 that would add blinkers and puddle lights, etc. which should be available in the spring; thought that I had bookmarked the link, but can't find it or the thread now.
Came across it while searching different forums, threads and ebay to accomplish this on my 2010 STX. Have come to the conclusion that my mirror wire harness has available pins for turn signals/puddle lamps/power(remote adjustment) and heated if I change climate controller. Do not have available power extend/fold.

I have read all of the forums and still don't see my answer, so thought I would ask. I have a 2009 f150 XLT. I have no turn signal lighting in my mirrors. I would like to add. I have purchased the lights and are on there way. My question, is there wiring already in the mirrors. I have seen comments on other years, etc. has anyone already done this on a 2009 model?
