4.6 litre timing
Ok got the heads back on. About to install the engine. Just want to make sure timing is correct. Everything was messed up. So I aligned all the colored links up with their marks and the marks I had. Everything looks good. My question is how do I know that the #1 TDC is on the stroke it should be.

#1 piston top of stroke just after intake valve closes.

Got it.
Thanks for the reply PH.
I tried to determined what rocker is intake and what one is exhaust. You do you have a quick solution for this? Got it. Just looked down the intake hole and can see the valve. Thanks! |
Just checked it. The intake valve is just about to open at tdc. That kinda doesn't sound good to me. Do I have it backwards?

The top of the stroke is at the point that the intake valve just closed and the piston is at its topmost stroke - this is called the compression stroke. The piston is driven down and its next up is the exhaust stroke and the exhaust valve opens.
