That's convenient, they want to wait until the plugs are more likely to break off. lol

Honestly if your already at 80k I really don't think it would make a different waiting until 100k. Coming from my experience at 68k

I think the way the dealership does it is more prone to breakage than the way Zach and Bucky did theres and had no breaks. When I removed them fast while the engine was hot I had none break. It wasn't until I had to remove the one by hand that it broke and the other side had already cooled off to much by then.

What I would do next time is totally do one side and install the new plugs then drive it around and let the engine warm back up some and repeat on the other side. Or just work faster next time lol

Yes, decisions, decisions!

I found that O'Reilly's had the Motorcraft SP-507 and SP-515 plugs in stock. I'm going to see what the difference is in them. I'm wondering if the SP-515 is a one piece design, like the Champions that will take more torque without breaking.

Which P/N did you install Trent?

I'm pretty sure its 507, I got them from that Advance right beside the O'Reillys. I had a 40% coupon code online so saved a good chunk of cash.

Just looking around online, on the Motorcraft site they list 2 spark plugs for the 2008 trucks. The SP-507 for the ones with black coil boots and the SP-509 for the brown coil boots. The brown coil boots are the ones that aren't supposed to have the issue with the spark plugs. I wonder what the actual different in the plugs is.

The SP-509 doesn't have the long GND shield extending past the threaded part. I'm assuming this is the redesigned head/plug to eliminate the sieze/breakage problem.

Here are some photos:

Yes, I checked the Advance site, and they don't even carry the SP-515 yet.

Just throwing this out there but, Champion makes a 1 piece design for the 5.4L I believe the number is 7989. I know most of you want to put the new motorcraft in, but I've read on the other F150 forum that it isn't any better.
