How-To Install Tow Mirrors, 04+
By: Adam Tools needed: 1. Screwdriver 2. Ratchet 3. 10mm, 8mm, 7/32, ¼, 7/16 Sockets 4. Pliers 5. Pair of gloves Attachment 1485 This is what the door looks like completely together. Attachment 1486 Step 1 Remove the two bolts at the bottom of the door panel. They are ¼” bolts heads. Attachment 1487 Step 2 Remove the cover over the door latch bolts. Just pop it out with a screwdriver and then pull it off. Remove the bolts with the 8mm socket. Attachment 1488 Step 3 Pop the latch out, (should come out when the bolts are removed) and then with the screwdriver pop out the lock and window piece. The grey is the mirror power, the green is the lock, the blue is the power window, and the darker grey is the window locks. Attachment 1489 Step 4 After that you will see another bolt head that needs to come out. It is also 8mm. Attachment 1490 Step 5 Pop the speaker cover off and remove the speaker. The cover will pop off with e flat head screwdriver and then the speaker can be removed with the 7/32 socket. There should be 4 of them for each speaker. Attachment 1491 Attachment 1492 After the speaker is taken out, remove the plug. Then there is a little plastic ring that needs to be removed. It looks like this. Attachment 1493 Attachment 1494 It was only on my drivers side and not on the passenger side. I don’t know why. Step 6 Now the door panel is ready to be removed. Just pull up gently on it and it should come out. My passenger side came out really easy and the driver side required a little more tugging. Attachment 1495 Attachment 1496 Step 7 Now the mirror is ready to be removed. Unbolt it using the 7/16 socket. There are 3 bolts. The mirror should hold in place with the nuts taken off. Attachment 1497 Attachment 1498 When it is taken off gently pull the mirror away from the door and then disconnect the plug from the mirror. Attachment 1499 Step 8 Repeat the process in the opposite order to put the new towing mirror back on. And then repeat the same process for the other door. Here are the comparison pics. Attachment 1500 Attachment 1501 Attachment 1502 The finished product! Attachment 1503 Total install time was about 15 minutes per door. It took me a little longer because I had to run and get a smaller ratchet. I would say this is about a 4/10 on the difficulty scale. |
I have to figure out the wiring for the puddle lights and the turn signals. When I do I will add more pics.

No updates on the wiring. Didn't do it today. Didn't feel like it.
|
Curious as to what happened as to no further posts/updates. Want to add to 10 STX for towing the RV.

Thanks for the tips!
