5.4L Spark Plug Socket

I just ordered a spark plug socket designed for the 5.4L from Amazon. It's $17, the exact same socket from O'Reiley's is $29.90:

They have been in about 10K miles, I thought I would pull them, re-antiseize them, and re-install them.

Seems excessive, but its a good piece of mind.

That seems crazy expensive, i bought mine at advanced for under $10.

Its just a 9/16" spark plug socket?

It's a 9/16" socket with the correct length extension built as one piece.

Not a bad deal. I like the ones with a built in swivel.

i guess that is a nice added feature. it does kind of stink when the socket gets stuck down in there and the extension wont stay on.

Yeah it does, I'd probably buy one if I attempted to do them again.

OTC makes some good stuff. Seems like a good deal.

Yes, OTC made the camshaft position sensor syncho aligner I bought for my Ranger.

Removed, and re-antiseized all plugs yesterday. socket/extension worked great.

The dealer told me they are recommending changing them at 60K miles to minimize the chance of breakage. Trent changed his around 60K (Trent you can chime in with the actual mileage) and had some break.

Trent 09-01-2011 08:50 AM

I think it was around 65k and 5 out of 8 broke.
