AOD 4 speed auto shift shaft leak
I have a 88 f150 and it has the AOD 4 speed auto. It has a leak from the shifter shaft seal. I was wondering if I have to take the pan down and all of that stuff or if I can just do this seal in the photos. I will be cleaning it off and seeing exactly where the leak is from right there. But by the looks of it, it’s the one in the photo which I will pick out instead of wasting $50-100 on fluid gaskets and all of that when I can spend the extra time to pick it out and save money. But what I was wondering am I gonna have to do the inner seal to? The leaks not that bad even though it looks bad based on the ground under it. The fluid level doesn’t drop a lot in the month or so the pans been resealed, it was a little more than 3/4 full. And by the time I do the output shaft seal I think it will be fine, but if I can do this seal to without dropping the pan again I would do it. Otherwise I’ll hold off for 30k miles or 2yrs when I drop the pan again.
