Ford is recalling thousands of F-Series pickup trucks from the 2011 and 2012 model years over a transmission problem that, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, "fails to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard number 114, theft protection." NHTSA reports that the transmissions in these defective trucks can be shifted out of the park position without pressing the brake pedal due to a problem with the brake shift interlock switch.

That's sucks. One heck of a safety issue there!

Sure is, my Dad has a 2011 F-150 that wouldn't shift out of park. Ended up being a faulty wiring harness. Took the dealership about two weeks to figure it out.

My 2004 ate it's transmission at 72K miles. This was what the bottom of the pan looked like after the dealer popped it off. The dealer paid $3600 towards the transmission because the service department had failed to keep up on their Ford Advantage Service notifications for inspections, maintenance and flushing. I was giddy about that and still go back to the dealer - which is where I bought my 2011 Explorer.https://www.f150-forums.com/attachme...1&d=1324937989
