Octane preference
Hello again!
Reading through my owners manual a few weeks ago, I noticed that the recomended octane level was listed as "87 Minimum", so I experimented with the 87, 91, and 93 octane gas all bought at the same vender and made a change to the 91 octane, finding a little better milage per tank full and a tiny bit better performance, this was done over the last couple of weeks or so and driving the same route each day, mostly secondary roads with a posted speed of between 35 mph to 50 mph, I was glad to see a gain of approx 50 miles with using the 91. And this was tested a couple of times each grade before deciding , So I was hoping to hear what your using and what kind of milage your getting, thanks!!! |
You can see some improvements with different octane. You need to vet the MPG increase against the higher cost per a gallon of the fuel to see if it is worth the 'butt dyno' or not. A good tuner can make a difference as well.

What would a good tuner cost and is it something I'd be able to use?

Whether you'd be able to use it or not is not a question I can't answer. I would suggest doing a Google search on Edge Products and take a look at the products and applications. |
Ok thx Kevin , I'll take a look and check them out
