Default UGH. On the Fence, someone push me over!

Ok guys, I got an email a few days ago from a Jeep dealership that I had went to saying that they have a new shipment of Jeeps in and they want to work with me to trade my F150 in.. At first I laughed, and wrote it off. I love my SCREW..

But then I started thinking.. I have recently become Single, no kid, no girl, no family.. As much as I like the full size F150, I dont really USE it as a truck.. I mean, the last time I used the bed was moving my **** from Florida to Iowa. The whole time i was in Florida before I deployed, I never really Used the bed, nor did I have more than 1 other person in the truck with me at any given moment.. Now when I was home on leave, I did use the back seat quite a bit, but again, no bed.

I would LOVE to get a 4 door rubi and slowly mod the hell out of it, but I cant justify dropping another 3-10K more than what I owe on my truck.. I have found a few 2 door JK Rubi's for closer to what I owe on my truck though, but I dont know how i feel about loosing the extra doors and storage space..

I dont know what to do.. I keep going back and forth lol. I love my truck, but I love jeeps. lol. Just wish I could afford both!

Pros and cons:

F150 -

Pros: Power and sound(V8), Beautiful lol, lots of room for passengers and storage/cargo.

Cons: Not so great on Gas(not tooo big of a factor), Dont really use the truck as a truck, sometimes too big to offroad with(anything other than open field mudding).

JEEP -

Pros: can take the top/doors off during the summer, better off road, limitless aftermarket support, can go in tighter places.( im sure there are some i am forgetting with both the JEEP and the Truck)

Cons: V6, Smaller wheel base (not as comfy for long trips), not as many amenaties as the F150, not as much space for cargo(2 door), More aggressive MOD virus.

What do you guys think?!

The best thing would be to stay with what you have since you have it partially paid for, but by the sound of it you are going to end up trading it for something else sooner or later anyway. Might as well do it now so you can cut your losses and go ahead and put that money towards your new vehicle.

Wow I guess I missed what happened with the woman.

I agree with Kris I guess. Basically my take is, you need to decide what you really want longer term and stick to it for a while. If that means you want to get rid of the F150, do it before you spend a bunch more money on it.

I recently when through this same thing with my F150, kept thinking about a super duty. Remember that I bought my F150 because I wanted a small light camper, but a truck that was light/small/short enough to get around off highway. I ordered a camper that is a little bigger than I planned initially and went back and forth about cutting my losses with the F150 and buying a super duty, or spending more money on the F150 to make it carry the weight better. I looked at how much I already spent on the truck, how much I owe, how much I would owe on a new truck, how much I would need to spend on mods with a new truck, etc. My decision was to keep the F150, spend a few bucks to make it carry the weight safely, and hold on to it for a few years. If I want something bigger in a few years, there will be better used trucks on the market and I will owe less on mine, and have gotten my money's worth out of it. But I'm also trying to spend less money on the truck for now.

By the way are your KM2s on 17s or 18s? If they are on 18s I'd pay to have tires swapped between ours and some extra cash to you. I still have a good amount of tread but I want a new full set of rubber (5 tires) before I leave this job. I may take a much lower paying job for the experience and I want to be sure I don't need another 1500+ set of tires when I'm broke. lol

I say keep the F150 and save for a jeep you can build so you don't have to daily drive it. I built 2 different jeeps and once I got them to where I wanted to perform offroad the on road handling started to suck. Also think about if you break something on Sunday and you need your jeep on Monday to get to work. I spent many of Sunday nights staying up late just to be able to get to work on Monday. One more thing to think about your out wheeling all weekend the jeep is cover in mud and your tired wouldn't it be nice to be able to park it until you have time to clean it and get into a nice clean truck.

thanks for all the help guys.. You have succesfully pushed me over lol. I am going to keep the truck around, as I have paid some of it off, and start saving for a jeep that I can use as a Toy and use the truck as a dd/long drive vehicle.

Brian- thanks man, after reading your post, i did exactly what you did, and I would be upside down if i were to trade the truck in on a new jeep.. SO, Ill keep the truck, mod it a little here and there but save up for a few years and get a 2 door jeep that i can use as a toy.

Thanks again everyone!

Brian - yeah, I didnt really post anything about what had happend with me and the ex.. Was pretty depressed at first, but My best friend from High school came out of hiding(no one has heard or seen from him in a while) and family made sure i had an awesome last week of leave and made sure I didnt beat myself up over it too bad.. Everything happens for a reason.

Well I'm sorry to hear about that man. I'm sure being deployed is rough on any relationship.

Sometimes when you get out of a relationship though, you can look back and see things from a more objective point of view and learn from it, and learn more about yourself as well. Just try to learn from it and move on the best you can. Something good will come of it I'm sure.

yes sir! After the first initial shock was over, and I just thought about the whole relationship, i realized there were so many things that both of us were doing wrong. I pretty much made my entire life revolve around her, and never took the time to see friends or family.. But like you said, It was a good experience to learn from..

I know alot more about myself, and what I can and cant stand in a significant other, and just a whole lot about relationships in general. God has a plan for everyone, and everything happens for a reason and fits into that plan I suppose!
