Exclamation 2004 f150 5.4l cam phasers, engine slug, cam shaft sensors

Hi, i have a 2004 5.4l triton, the engine will run when i unplug the bank 2 cam shaft sensor but when i pug it in it runs very rough, i took it to a ford dealer and they flashed the pcm and did updates on it and they came back to me and said that my cam phasers are bad, and that the engine is slugged up. i just purchased this truck and i am wondering what the best solution would be to fix it, whether replacing the motor is better or just rebuilding it.

How many miles on the truck/engine? Not sure what 'slugged up' means?

85,000 and basically the guy said the motor is slugged up because the guy who had it before me probably didn't do the oil changes frequently

You can un-slug it by running a can of Seafoam to it. I've Seafoamed a couple of engines and was surprised at what they do. Sea Foam Motor Treatment (Seafoam)
