Default 2005 3" Body Lift, How hard is it to do?

I just purchased a 2005 Fx4 crew cab with only a leveling kit and 33" nittos. I would like to lift it just a little more to eventually put on 35"'s. I would like to install a body lift instead of suspension lift just because of cost. i want to install the body lift myself, i have dones so years ago on older trucks and it wasnt to hard. i have heard that it is extremely difficult on the 2005 ford, anybodys input would be greatly appreciated.

From what I've heard, the level of difficulty has more to do with not having the skills, tools or equipment to do the job. If you use the bumper for towing, you wont be able to after installing the lift and relocating your bumpers.

I am also looking at putting a lift or suspension kit on my 2004 F150 4X4 5 man cab. I now have 125,000 miles on it and started using it to hunt with this year. Cause I wrecked my 74 blazer, really broke my heart, had it sense it was new, never let me or my family down. So I inhearited my wifes F150, and purchased her a new Dodge Big Horn 5 man cab 4X4. Yea, I know, why didn't I get the new Dodge! I don't like tearing up new things. The Ford now has scratches up one side an down the other from hunting this year. I have checked on line for kits, thay run from $350.00 to 3K, many different brands out there, about 12 to 15 Co.s make them. I noticed that you really need to look at what they come with, and without. I will keep checking to see what others like or dislike about their kits.
Good Luck.

Mat, Rancho is a popular choice.

i have installed a 3" body lift on a 2006 f150 and it wasnt to bad just me and a buddy did it in about 8-9 hours. but he only had the single cab. i am now looking to lift my truck 2005 f150 2wd crew cab. it already has a 6" lift. i was just wondering if anyone else had an issue with the tow hitch if it looked weird sitting lower or if there was a way to lift it higher as well

If you lift your hitch, then your towing geometry will be off if you ever tow anything. The trailers weight rest on the ball hitch with normal geometry. With the trailer tongue being pulled higher with a raised ball, the weight on the trailer shifta to the rear and the trailer is now pulling up on the hitch ball - good opportunity for the trailer tongue latch to come unlatched and then say bye-bye to the trailer.

Yes, you can easily raise the hitch. Just be sure to buy a drop hitch receiver.
