Default 1992 F150 Fuel line leak

I have a 1992 F150 with an inline 6 (4.9l) super cab. The return side of the steel fuel line has a leak in it just past the fuel pressure regulator. Ford sales all of the fuel lines as 1 set for like 500 dollars and I really do not have the money to get them all.

I was hoping to cut the crack out and put a stainless union in. I am not sure how the return line connects to the pressure regulator and if there are things I should consider when trying to fix this. Any help would be appreciated.

After more inspection, it looks as if the leak is close to the plate that the pressure regulator mounts on. this means pulling out the entire line. Will this destroy the seals on the injectors?

The injector seals are dirt cheap and replacing them will be some super cheap insurance. If it was me doing the work, you bet I would replace them!
