02 Supercrew no heat, but ac works great!
Hey guys, To start with I feel like a complete idiot. I never was much of a mechanic, but I could do basic maintenance and change things that were easily accessible. Now I'm old with bad arthritis and I have to have a good friend do most of my work. So I bought my truck last summer and the ac worked great, but when the colder weather came there was no heat. In my younger days, the first thing I would have checked was the return on the heater hose, but my dumb azz checks the internet for the the most common problem and of course I read all about ford's faulty blend door design and narrow my focus to it or the actuator switch. Switch is fine, and the plastic was cut out ... you could see the door working too. I thought that since they are known to go bad, might as well replace after all the hassle of getting to it. Now my friend can't figure out how to get the old door out, since it's not broken and functions. So I got some radiator flush with degreaser and the current plan is to back flush the heater core with boiling hot water a couple times. Seal off the exit and let the radiator flush soak in the core for several hours. I also realize this could just be a low level in the radiator, but the overflow is where it's supposed to be and there's no radiator cap to check visually. Also, my friend suggest possible air in the lines. The truck was well maintained according to the service records that came with the truck. With the radiator being flushed last in 2021, but I really wont't know what the fluid looks like until I pull the heater hose. Any thoughts or ideals on the matter would be greatly appreciated ..Thank you!
