Driver-side bank not firing! Please help
I have a 2003 F-150 4.6L V8.
So here is how it started…
I was driving down the road and realized I had lost a little power. I could not get over 50mph. So I turned around and tried to drive back home thinking I could fix it.
On the way home, I lost more power and couldn’t make it. Had to get towed.
I get home and hookup my cheapo scanner to find p0308.
Well I would assume that’s why it originally lost a little power but not why the whole driver side bank stopped firing afterwards.
I can unplug each ignition coil on the driver side and nothing happens. It remains running on 4 cylinders.
I can even unplug all 4 coils and injectors at the same time. No change at all.
I swapped coils around, nothing. I even went ahead and bought all 8 brand new ignition coils and spark plugs.
Nothing.
I checked for spark by starting it with each coil and spark plug pulled out.
I see spark.
I checked for fuel by pulling the fuel rail off and starting the truck.
I see fuel.
I checked all over for vacuum leaks. I sprayed everywhere with WD-40. Even used a butane torch to check.
No luck.
I pulled the catalytic converter off thinking it was clogged.
Nothing.
I even swapped the o2 sensors. The firing side had carbon build up on it. The non-firing side did not.
I checked oil and coolant.
They are not mixed.
What do you guys think happened to the truck?
What can I do next?
Is it time to start tearing the intake/top end apart?
Timing related?
Computer related?
Thanks!
