Default Cranks, no start, no spark.

04 F150 died while driving.
Cranks, but will not start.
Verified fuel pump working and pressuring fuel rail.
When cranking the tach reads about 100 rpm.
Will not fire/start on starter fluid.
Think I've verified all fuses okay.
Timing chain guides, VCT solenoids, oil pump done about 3 months ago. Good oil pressure. So believe timing okay.
No codes present.

Any ideas to try? Thanks in advance.

Yes. It was a timing issue and valve fault.

I found a roller follower on the passenger side that had been tossed out, in addition the valve keeper and spring were dislodged. Then found that the pin locating the cam phaser had been sheared, the cam phaser had rotated about 10 degrees clockwise from its normal position. So the passenger bank was also out of time. I have heard many instances of cam phaser pin shearing, maybe because a new TTY bolt wasn't installed and properly torqued down.

With yours make sure you do have fuel pressure as it is common for the fuel pump control module to fail. If you have fuel pressure then good.
Now check the tach when cranking, if it reads 100-200 rpm or so, the crank position sensor is okay.
Now you're just left with timing issues. Pull the valve cover gaskets, timing chain cover and oil pan.
Change the lash adjusters and roller followers if they are the old style.
Clean the oil pickup and upgrade the oil pump if it's original.
Update the cam phasers if they are old style.
Do the timing chain and guides.
Change the VVT solenoids.
Could get away with less, but once it's cracked open, why not.

Good luck.
