Drive Train Problems
First of all I am new here I have been on other forums, no one helped me there so here goes. Hopefully someone can help. I have a 2004 FX4 F150 with 84,000 miles on it.
Earlier in the summer i went to back my camper into a camping spot and the truck acted like it was having a hard time pushing it. After giving it more gas, it did move it but it was like a neutral drop in reverse. After I unhook the camper, I pulled forward and heard a squeak and dragging sound from the back.
Then last Friday, I was driving into work and and it felt like the transmission started to slip or the engine was just working real hard. I did get a tranny fault on the dash. Got it to work, and shut it off. When I went out after work, tried to back it up, it would not move at all. After stepping down on the gas quite a bit, it spun the tires in reverse again like a neutral drop and then moved, but with clunking noise like a chain was jumping on a sprocket. Forward or reverse, it makes the same noise, but it is realy hard to get it to back up. Today I removed the rear drive shaft and it still is doing it in 4wd.
Has anyone had this problem and what do you all think it is. Transfer Case or Tranny? Has anyone had a Transmission go out with a loud clunking noise and not really slipping?
