HVAC Problem

Just this morning, all the air is coming out the dash vents, and changing the direction settings has no effect.

Has anybody else had this problem? How easy is it to pull the control panel out, and get to the vacuum motors?

Thanks!

It is really easy to remove the front panel, but the only thing on that panel is electrical plugs. Maybe that is your problem though...?
That bezel pops out with a flathead screw driver or trim tool. Be careful not to break any tabs.

Here is a link to my write-up when I installed my spec usa ipod controller, you can see where the clips are if it helps. I need to post the write-up over here I suppose...

Mine had a issue just like that, it turned out to be the actual switch unit in the bezel. Replaced it with another one off eBay and it works fine now.

Thanks Trent! Are all 3 controls in one unit? Did you price it from the
dealer?

Trent 02-07-2011 11:37 AM

Yeah its all 1 thing if I remember correctly. Dealer wanted a lot for it, 170 from Tasca, dealer was more. I ended up getting a whole bezel for under 100 dollars on eBay. Its been over a year so I don't remember all the details but I think thats right.

Great! If you don't mind, I'll take a look at it to see if the problem is something electronic.

Mine worked just fine on the way home this afternoon!

Where and when would you want to meet up?

Trent 02-07-2011 01:59 PM

Sure thing. I can meet up whenever, how about the Ridgecrest parking lot? Thats only like 3 minutes away from my house so I can meet you there any time.

Sounds great! I'm tied up this afternoon, and tomorrow afternoon, How about 2PM Wednesday afternoon?

Trent 02-07-2011 02:50 PM

That will work fine for me. I'll PM you my cell phone number

I'll be watching this thread. My truck is doing pretty well the same thing. Except mine is on defrost. I've heard that it could be the blend doors, and apparently the dash has to come out to change those:(

An update, my HVAC system has been working great since that one morning it messed up!

Trent, we will have to try and get together again, I would still like to look at the HVAC control panel to see if I can find something wrong with it.

No problem at all Trent! We can't control when we get sick, just glad you are feeling better!

I have to take some conference calls from home tomorrow afternoon.
How does 2PM Thursday sound at the Ridgecrest parking lot?

Trent 03-02-2011 09:06 AM

Works for me!

Yea all my dash blowers work fine. But if i put it on defrost it keeps blowing out as if i had it on the other settings and i dont feel much air going to windshield. Would that be the blend doors or???? Help!!
