Alternator damage charging camper lithium battery
Disconnecting Charge Line on 7pinI have just put in a 100A lithium battery in my camper and was concerned about possible damage to alternator while towing so I have, at least for now, disconnected the charge line inside camper so truck won’t try charging camper battery while hooked up. My battery needs 14.4vdc and I’ve read, if it were low it might pull too much current causing heating issue with alternator. I know an option is to add a dc-dc charger but wanted to keep it simple for now. Am I overly concerned about this, would the truck system manage this and prevent damage to alternator and camper battery? Thanks
