Retrofit power tailgate on XLT
Hello. I'm retrofitting my XLT with manual tailgate to have a step. The tailgate I got is a cosmetically an exact match but is a power lift.
My truck already has all of the connections on the wiring harness under the bed. The replacement tailgate has an extra 2-conductor connector which I believe to be the position sensor. There is a matching socket that's plugged off on the harness it connects to.
Other than FORScan changes, are any additional parts required? My search with AI resulted in reference to a Power Gate Module located behind the C pillar. Unfortunately, one AI tool gives different answers than another. I have to conclude they're BS but I'm not finding useful information through traditional search methods.
Can anyone provide guidance?
Thanks
