Which Speakers?
#14
I'm not sure if the later model F-150s use the same OEM speaker connector as a 1999 Ranger, but here is a suggestion when upgrading from the OEM speakers, to aftermarket speakers. The photos below
show how to solder the OEM speaker connector to the aftermarket
speakers so you don't have to cut the connectors off the speaker wiring. You are also guaranteed that your new speakers will be phased correctly:
Please excuse the quality of the photos, they were taken before I got my D70 in January 2005:

Yea, I was figuring I'd get some new speakers. I guess I'll save my money on the sub and just keep the stock one for now. Its not great, but it works until I can save for a decent one.
Who knows, I may change my mind and want to get new rims instead lol.

Sounds like a lose connection, did you get this resolved?
My experience with speakers is limited, but the brands I have enjoyed acoustically are Boston Acoustics, Infinity and Morel. I think you can get away with some cheaper brands but make sure you sound deaden some areas around the speaker and behind, ie, do some prepwork.
Naturally adding an amplifier is a must in my opinion but not all people are willing to go that far.
You will find most car audio forums will promote whats cool or popular at the moment, though if you can weed through all that and find the SQ guys they can be very helpful.
