Default 4.6 litre timing

Ok got the heads back on. About to install the engine. Just want to make sure timing is correct. Everything was messed up. So I aligned all the colored links up with their marks and the marks I had. Everything looks good. My question is how do I know that the #1 TDC is on the stroke it should be.

Default Got it.

Thanks for the reply PH.
I tried to determined what rocker is intake and what one is exhaust.

You do you have a quick solution for this?

Got it. Just looked down the intake hole and can see the valve.

Thanks!

Just checked it. The intake valve is just about to open at tdc. That kinda doesn't sound good to me. Do I have it backwards?

The top of the stroke is at the point that the intake valve just closed and the piston is at its topmost stroke - this is called the compression stroke. The piston is driven down and its next up is the exhaust stroke and the exhaust valve opens.
