MAF Swap Question
I know this has already been asked somewhere, but the search engine wouldnt let me search anything, so here goes. I have a 93' F 150 4x4 with 5.8L and E4OD, it is MAP sensored. The thing I would like is to go MAF with it, and was wanting to know what all has to be done to do that or is it even worth it, my truck is currently throwing check engine light while going down the road but wont store codes, we have checked for vacuum leaks and evap problems, fuel problems, spark, changed map, throttle position sensor and idle air and still keeps a code going down the road and has a slight miss all the time even though everything seems to be fine. So, we asked a ford tech friend of ours and he said could possibly be the computer at fault, and since i would like MAF anyways I thought i would see how difficult that would be, thanks in advance, once again i cant get it to store codes
The MAP and MAF are not interchangeable. One operates on linear air flow with air intake and the other operates on pressure at the manifold.
Might want to do a cylinder compression check. If you have cylinder leaks from worn rings are valve problems, fuel and air mixture ratio will get skewed and can cause engine issues.
Engine Control Units do go out....so, don't rule that one out yet.
