Just a quick note to everyone. I had replaced my 2003 F-150 (4.6 V8) Idle Air Control (IAC). I had many issues with surging idle and several false codes, as well as no answers from any credible sources, or the people that had sold me the after market IAC. There was a lot of frustration and I know others on F150 Forums experienced the same.

So here is how I fixed mine and I know of one other in my town did as well. I replaced it with a genuine Ford IAC (Motorcraft) and everything is now normal. Cost was about $70 more but after months of frustration and poor gas mileage, all is well. I was able to return the after market part (after 10 months) to Advanced Auto because the part never performed properly.

I hope this helps the others on here that had the same issues.

 

Good tip: Always remember this tip, just because its new, does not mean it is any good. New does not equal good. Many people replace a bad part with a worse NEW part from China. If you have not seen the part actually work with your own eyes, then always assume it just might be defective, new or not.
