Default 2008 F150 4.2 Auto. Too Fast

Hello.
Not use to Ford Forums. Just looking for info. on my 2008 F150.
Getting use to this truck is taking some time after getting rid of my 1986 F150 4 speed. Loved that old truck. Bin up the river and back with it. Always like to work. Would haul a demanding load and loved it.
Could always manage to stay within the speed limit with that old truck. Not so with this new one.
Brought this 2008 truck used with 15300. miles.
Seems to want to cruise at 38mph. Always applying brakes to stay within 30 mph limit in neighbor hoods. This no doubt will increase brake wear and have other undesirable effects; ie increased gas consumption.
Is their any way of reducing engine rpm to slow this rig down?
Ford's gotta know that it's easy to get a ticket with this truck.
Don't like riding the brakes.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Al.

Something doesn't sound right. You might want to have the idle control valve checked or take it to the dealer and have the system scanned.
