Yesterday when I activated the switch to open my sunroof, after a terrible grinding sound a shower of parts fell into the cabin. The sunroof stuck open about 5 inches. The roof will not open or close but you can hear the motor trying. I got a guestimate that this might exceed 2 grand in repairs. Anyone experience this or know how to fix it?

 

After taking the moonroof glass panel out, the track is damaged on both sides. Pieces of broken plastic are in the track along with those that fell into the cab. Dealer states the entire track comes as one assembly and must be replaced. This requires removing the headliner. Estimated to be over $2100. Truck is in excellent condition, looks new and just turned 70,000 mi. Had to authorize repair as there is no other fix short of welding metal over opening and painting. Disappointed in poor quality of parts.
