Default Octane preference

Hello again!
Reading through my owners manual a few weeks ago, I noticed that the recomended octane level was listed as "87 Minimum", so I experimented with the 87, 91, and 93 octane gas all bought at the same vender and made a change to the 91 octane, finding a little better milage per tank full and a tiny bit better performance, this was done over the last couple of weeks or so and driving the same route each day, mostly secondary roads with a posted speed of between 35 mph to 50 mph, I was glad to see a gain of approx 50 miles with using the 91. And this was tested a couple of times each grade before deciding , So I was hoping to hear what your using and what kind of milage your getting, thanks!!!

You can see some improvements with different octane. You need to vet the MPG increase against the higher cost per a gallon of the fuel to see if it is worth the 'butt dyno' or not. A good tuner can make a difference as well.

What would a good tuner cost and is it something I'd be able to use?

There are lot's of tuners out there. I've used Edge products on two rigs and have had good luck. They run around $350 and up.

Whether you'd be able to use it or not is not a question I can't answer. I would suggest doing a Google search on Edge Products and take a look at the products and applications.
